Nosy Saba. Stunningly Beautiful.
North west coast, Madagascar
Nosy Saba, "stunningly beautiful" (East Africa Pilot), "the almost perfect island" (Bradt Travel Guide) is a small island paradise. Its secluded setting off the north western coast of Madagascar ensures absolute tranquility. Blessed with sun kissed pearly white beaches and surrounded by turqoise blue waters teeming with exotic fish, its natural beauty makes Nosy Saba one of the most seductive spots in Madagascar.
Overview
Nosy Saba is a 128 hectare island located approximately 10 km off the coast of north western Madagascar, and 50 km south of Nosy Be International Airport. The island has its own landing strip and is readily accessible by air and sea.
An idyllic property, Nosy Saba has white sandy beaches, sandstone cliffs and jungle with wildlife including lemurs and different varieties of birds. MEDP is developing an exclusive 30 suite resort modeled on 'Eco-lodges', each with an infinity water view over the sea. The Eco-lodges are constructed from local materials of wood, brick and have thatched roofs sourced from native plants.
The first stage of development will include an infinity swimming pool, restaurant, bar, nine-hole golf course, water sports, gym, and tennis facilities as well as a spa specializing in unique treatments of essential oils and anti-aging lotions of Madagascar.
A second stage development will include the construction of eco-villas for leasehold acquisition as holiday homes or letting out under resort supervision.
Electricity will be supplied by gensets with backup, fresh water from acquifers and reservoirs on the island with fresh vegetables, fruits and meat from supervised farms on the mainland. The island provides abundant fishing.
Location
Nosy Saba is a 128 hectare island situated north-west of Analalava, south of the Radama archipelago, in the north-west of Madagascar.
The Concept
The project entails the construction of a luxurious Eco-lodge resort . 30 Eco-lodges will be built with each lodge made up of several hexagonal structures connected to one another. By using such a design, lodges with ample space are able to be built around existing natural obstacles such as boulders and trees. In certain situations, the trunk of a coconut tree for example, could be a central focal point of the lodge, with rooms constructed around it.
Each lodge will have full bathroom facilities as well as sitting areas and terraces. They will be carefully positioned to maximize the views of the beautiful surroundings, as well as systematically placed relative to one another to ensure absolute tranquility.
Access to the Island
At present, there is a 650m landing strip on the island which is able to accomodate aircraft up to the size of the Twin Otter. Flights to the island will be operated by Air Madagascar, with departures from Facene (Nosy Be) and Ivato.
An alternative to flying is to take a boat from Analalava, a city which can be reached by car on the mainland.
